Procedure
The participants sat comfortably in front of a table in a room of the University. The experimenter then explained the procedure to the participants and demonstrated the equipment. All of the participants were divided into groups according to the condition in which they were tested. Then they were given three transparent plastic cups (in a pseudorandom order) with different aqueous glucose solutions for each one of them and they were instructed to taste all of three solutions and rate sweetness intensities verbally, applying a range from 0 (least sweet) to 10 (most s
weet). The experimenter wrote down the participants rating and the testing will end. Following completion of the testing procedure, all participants were debriefed.
Ethical Considerations
There was a consent form in which participants agreed to be involved in the research voluntarily. Participants were informed about the study and what they needed to do and so they were not deceived. Moreover, there wasbe a debriefing at the end of the study and they were informed that they had the right to withdraw from the study at any point if they felt uncomfortable. There was also anonymity and confidentiality for the participants. Furthermore, there was not risk for the participants because the study took place under safe conditions. The process of the study was ensured not to be stressful, upsetting or intrusive for the participant.
Reflection
The number of participants was quite satisfactory. However, a sample of 120 students cannot be representative for a whole population. Moreover, the participants were only Greek people. So, the sample is not also representative for all people because it should be taken into account the cultural differences that influence many aspects of people's personality.
