Visual learners learn by seeing and looking. They take numerous detailed notes and like to sit in the front of their learning environment. In a classroom environment visual learners will often close their eyes to remember something. When they become bored they will focus on something interesting to watch. The assessment I took had a series of 16 questions and they were related to the three learning styles. I was expected to choose the answer that most resembled me. This is a characteristic of a kinesthetic learner. I feel that I could improve when it comes to being able to sit through a meeting without becoming bored or doodling on paper during the meeting. I am usually a neat person, but organization can be a problem for me. At times I can become a little disorganized and misplace things, not remembering where I put them.

Being in a masters program has taught me that you need discipline in order to be effective in this program. Being a visual learner while taking Internet courses can be challenging. I am required to be on the computer on four days out of the week, which is not the hard part. Just being able to discipline myself to stay on the computer and organize my posts so that they are substantial has been my biggest challenge thus far. Success comes with many different learning styles. There is no "right" approach to learning. We all have our own particular way of learning new information. The important thing is to be aware of the nature of your learning style and how it helps you achieve your goals as an individual. Knowing your learning style will help you develop coping strategies to compensate for your weaknesses and capitalize on your strengths.
