Most people, including myself, have a hard time getting all the things they need to accomplish in a days time done. Most of the time we get side tracked. Ringing cell phones, television shows, to social events can really get in the way. The more appealing things seem to be, they get bumped to being top priority compared to the things that really need to get done. For those who procrastinate, having a set time schedule may be the only way to not procrastinate.

Procrastination seems to come about from various causes like laziness, lack of motivation, entertainment, and distractions. For students such as me, laziness is a big key factor with procrastinating. The term paper or oral presentation due in several weeks doesn't seem too important until the night before it's due. There was plenty of time to do it, but the student just didn't feel like doing it, or in other terms, was lazy. Laziness pretty much goes hand in hand with lack of motivation. If a person sees no point in doing something, why do it? It isn't appealing and they just don't feel like they get anything great out of it, so it is like, what's the point? When I receive an assignment or paper to do, I tell myself that I am going to do it the day I get it assigned to me so I can get it done and out of the way. Unfortunately, that never does happen. I will end up putting it off till a couple days or a day before it is due. I could have put more time and effort into it and result in a better grade.

Entertainment is a big one for most people in general. A concert, party, or some kind of social function seems to be way more appealing and fun. I do not blame them for that, those things are fun but not on the top of the priority list. If my boyfriend or friends call me and ask me to do something with them, I jump right on that invitation being fully aware I have more important things I need to be doing. Last but not least, distractions. Distractions can range from people calling you on the phone to watching your favorite television show. The internet can be a very big distraction. Things like "Myspace" and "AIM" can really cut into what you want to accomplish. Turning your phone off or on vibrate, keeping the television off, and not chatting or surfing the internet while doing homework can really cut down on distractions.

I have a really big problem with procrastination. I put off my school homework or studying for tests until the last minute. The internet just like the phone with some people is a huge distraction for me. I will try and try to type out a paper for a class, but chatting on the internet will get in the way. I think it is because of laziness and wanting to do more fun things. It is hard for me to balance my schedule and make sure I get things done. I have a full load of classes, work, and schedule in time to see my boyfriend.

There are several examples of procrastination, and I've come up with the most popular ones. Procrastination leads to not getting things done on time such as homework and to its full potential or ability. After procrastinating from studying for tests and doing homework, a person's grades will begin to decline. Thank God that has not yet happened to me but I know for a fact that if I keep on putting things off until the last minute, my grades will decline. The person's job at work does not get done to its full capability when they procrastinate with the things they need to do. Luckily for me at my job, I cannot procrastinate. I am always busy and plus there is nothing to do if I am not doing my job. I will get bored and end up wanting to do things I am really supposed to be doing.

An easy solution is allowing more study time yet that does not make up for everything else I procrastinate on. This will really cut down on the little bit of social life I have now but in the long run it will really help me out. Another easy solution is cutting down on work hours. This will result in less income and possibly make it harder to pay for classes and books. There is no way if I cut down on my work hours I will be able to go to school. I very much need the money. I may end up taking advantage of the available time and instead of putting study in time and
