Professional Workplace Dilemma Paper
Introduction
Working at Armark Aviation Service I would have thought that corporate, the supervisor, the lead, and other co-workers would be professional making this paper difficult to write. Seemingly, this is not the case, while working there a lot of professional worked as though they were uneducated, and unprofessional. I had worked with this company for about a year. This company was responsible for cleaning the planes in four airlines; my co-workers, lead, and supervisors were all from diverse cultures causing ethical problems within the company.
My Experience
Working at Armark Aviation Service I had to follow a lot of procedures and polices not only from Armark, but from Reagan National Airport as well. Corporate and the supervisor felt as though they did not have to follow the procedures because they have a college degree. I followed the procedures and polices to stay safe as well as to make sure my co-workers were safe too. One particular day my lead Mr. Williams had asked me to vacuum all the planes as I explained that I could not because I had to dump all the laboratories and trash and put fresh water on all those planes before 6:45 am and the time was 6:10 am I explained. He got very angry and said that if I did not do this I would be written up or fired for not abiding by his rules. Mr. Williams proceeded by giving me the vacuum and turned it on for me. I was so mad, but I stayed clam and thought fast, I told him that I would follow corporate procedures first and when I finished doing all that other stuff, I would assist in vacuuming the planes. He began to say I was lazy and ignorant, while I felt as if it was total opposite. As he turned and walked off the plane, he mumbled under his breath that he was going to make me quit. I was so angry and worried that when I went home I could not sleep that night; the next day at work I asked if I could speak to Mr. Johnson the head man in the corporate office.
The Dilemma
Walking down the hall to Mr. Johnson's office I was extremely worried as I walked into his office to tell him about the incident from the morning before, but the walk there made me think and realize that having Mr. Williams understand me and my reason for me doing what I am doing was more important. Mr. Williams felt as though sense he had been with the company for years and was able to lead a team and clean at the same time I should be able to as well. He feels as though by him having a college degree and being lead over 15 employee that he could bypass the procedures and polices do to his high position in the company. He insulted my character by calling me lazy and ignorant and thinking his position was better than mine. Since the start he was unethical; his moral and values are degraded despite how much education he had received. As I sit in Mr. Johnson office a waiting for Mr. Williams to attend the meeting, what I wanted Mr. Williams to understand
