In a thread, introduce yourself to the class. Share how Module/Week 1's presentation helped you define the term "professional." As a professional, it is important that you are up to date on current issues and trends in the field of education. What is your plan to grow professionally after this course and what is a description of the professional you would like to be?
In viewing the professional presentation my biggest take away was to be mindful of my behaviors and the way I act with my students, coworkers, and administrators. This would include both my demeanor in action as well as appearance. I need to remember to have appropriate boundaries with my coworkers and students. Another thing to remember is that first impressions do matter and are usually lasting impressions held by others. A negative first impression is hard to overcome and some may never believe anything about us other than that first impression. This includes postings on Twitter, Facebook, or texts we send others.
An important thing for me is to grow as a Christian professional. I will do this by striving to be Christlike in everything I do. This is a continual process in my life as I continue to work at Jefferson College of Health Sciences and any of my future endeavors. Our president, is a Christian and many of my students realize I am as well. I fully intend to continue to be a worthy role model to them in my actions and words. I want them to see God in me in the way I treat them, care for them, and meet their needs.
