These two systems are the next generation of console gaming, and even though they are competing with each other for the top spot, they both share many similarities as well as differences. The easiest seen likeness between these two consoles is that both of them have backwards compatibility. Both The Xbox 360 and The PS3 can play the games of its predecessor. The PS3 can play PS2, and PS1 games. And The Xbox 360 can play Xbox games. Another likeness between the two is wireless controllers. Both consoles have wireless controllers which is a step up from last generation. The last likeness between these consoles is that both of them have online play and an online store. Xbox 360 users are graced with Xbox live which has a monthly fee to use, and the PS3 users get PSN which is free but lacks some features of Xbox Live at this time. Another difference between these two consoles is the release date. The Xbox 360 was the earliest next-generation console to appear. Microsoft began pumping out these consoles on November 22, 2005. This was almost a year before the PS3 was launched, November 11, 2006. And even with the one year head start Microsoft’s Xbox 360 has only sold 7.2 million more consoles then Sony’s PS3 which is becoming a very popular system, very quickly. It is interesting to see which console will take the upper hand with so many differences between them. The future is unclear yet for these
