All over Jamaica individuals live in extreme poverty yet no place is this more obvious than in Trench Town, Kingston 12, which is near the downtown area. The four story apartments sit in parallel with the area brimming with barricaded shacks, fenced and roofed with rust hued zinc.
You could be pardoned for speculation those houses are deserted, however actually they house numerous more than their configuration planned. Today around 25,000 individuals live in Trench Town and it is a region that has been purposely relinquished by its legislature. Gun crime and shootouts between rival groups and police are frequent. Trench Town was deified in the music of its most celebrated inhabitant, Bob Marley. Because of Bob Marley individuals from everywhere throughout the globe have known about Trench Town however few have ever been there.
Because of its specific history, Trench Town is partitioned into distinctive "zones" each with its own leader. It's the fighting between these hostile regions that has transformed Trench Town into a standout amongst the most perilous spots in the World. There are weapon fights each day and consistently. So how do normal individuals figure out how to live in such a damaging atmosphere? The Police are losing their ward in the city, they are always included in shootouts, and there are numerous innocent deaths when they occur
Trench Town hasn't generally been the merciless spot it is today. It was initially inherent 1945 as a Government housing project and there has been next to no venture from that point forward. It's hard for the more seasoned occupants who recall how wonderful the town used to be. Today quite a bit of Trench Town is separating. It's difficult to keep your Dignity when you live in such trouble, yet the general population who live there have incredible pride in their community.
Causes of primary and secondary onset of violence
According to the documentary the primary causes for the onset of violence in Trench Town were the politicians. The documentary states that politicians from the two main political groups in Jamaica provided guns to certain individuals in the community called ‘Dons’ in order to eradicate the voter population of the other party. Presently the secondary causes or reasons for violence in trench town are poverty, gangs, no employment and such. Because the city is divided there are boarders for different gangs in which members of the community and rival gangs cannot cross safely. Another reason the violence continues is the lack of a police presence. Most gang members do not even respect or fear the police. Many of the offices are scared because the members of the gangs are more heavily armed than them. The dons in the communities acts as judge, jury and executioner, meaning they are the ones enforcing the rules.
