Shockingly, there are many psychology careers to go into. One subfield that spiked my interest was a Health Educator. This field is one of the fastest growing industries in the world. A Health Educator mainly focuses on teaching patients and the world about how to get healthy and how to maintain that task. They teach their patients how to make good decisions to improve their well being, add fit activities in their schedules, and prevent destructive behaviors or habits. They also offer patients with information on their diagnosis and how to treat it. (New England College) There are many skills required for this career. Leadership is key because this job requires Supervision of the staff. Critical thinking is needed because on the daily health educators Collect data and other information to examine needs. Creativity is an addition as a Health Educator creates posters and websites. (monster) This career requires a bachelor’s degree; some employers require a master’s degree, particularly for employment with state or federal public health organizations. Personally to be successful in this career, health educators must be able to evaluate information, teach and help their patients to help them gain an understanding effectively. Though Psychology as a Health Educator is not what I am majoring in, this course and an understanding of the major as a Health Educator will help me tremendously because with my major in Health Care Administration I will be dealing with people and it is important to know how to read people and be able to communicate or help them effectively.
