Abstract

The decision to pursue a MBA degree and choosing one is a huge commitment not only to myself, but my family. It is a sacrifice that I am willing to take in order to make a great investment for the future. Sure everyone wants the best for their family and have a great lifestyle. But for me, I want more. So the questions lingers. "Why a MBA degree and especially University of Phoenix. What do I expect to gain from completing my MBA program?" The road which leads me here today to write a paper for my MBA 500 class is an essential stepping stone to reach a destination called: becoming wealthy.

Working as a process and improvement consultant, my duties were to consult with the business owner with recommended improvements in providing more exposure to the business while generating an increase in revenue and profit margin. And as an entrepreneur, I realized that I have a strong interest in real estate investment trusts (REIT), investing my salary into various investment vehicles where I have been successful earning a 20% return on my investment over the past three years to increase my net worth. My goal in the future is to work at an investment firm such as, CNL in Orlando, helping shareholders not only preserve their capital, but also to make them money.

But before making the ultimate decision in where I wanted to go in life, I had the luxury to ask some advice to whether or not to pursue a MBA degree and where to gain that knowledge. These individuals who are considered as my mentors, both successful businesspeople, and wealthy individuals are current National Health Care Group President for Fifth Third Bank Kevin Lavender and Mindy Rayford, a Senior Marketing Executive from Johnson & Johnson, recommending me to definitely pursue a MBA degree, especially if I wanted to work
