During World War 1 Rasputin was accused of being a unpatriotic influence on the courts. Rasptin also was accused of being of being a German spy. When Rasputin wanted to go to the front lines and bless the Russian troops, the commander and chief grand duke Nicholas promised to hang him if he showed up. Rasputin claimed that the Russian army would have no success until tsar took over command. I believe this was a plot to get him away so Rasputin could put his plan in effect with Alexandra.

When tsar Nicholas was away at war Rasputin started to influence Alexandra. In his success of doing that he became her personal advisor. He quickly convinced her into filling the government offices with his own hand picked candidates. Rasputiin also had sexual intercourse with the upper class women for political favors. Russian's economy was declining and many placed the blame on Alexandra and Rasputin.

Rasputin's death

Rasputin's death also had an effect on the Romanov family. All the women wanted him to stay around because of the political favors and Alexadra wanted him to stay because she thought he was a god. The reason she thought he was a god was because he had blessed her son that had hemophilia. Prince Felix Yusupov killed Rasputin on December 16,1916 according to Petrograd police. Yusupov thought that Rasputin's influence on Alexandra made him to dangerous to the empire.

According to a unpublished autopsy report in 1916 by professor Kossortov, there was no poisons found in his body at the autopsy. Kossortov also states Rasputin could have drowned because there was water found in his lungs. All sources agreed that he was beaten and attacked with some type of bladed weapon. All of the sources could agree on how many handguns were used during the attack. His death spilt the royal family in two and clearly started the down fall of Russia.
