As we mentioned in answers, Wal-Mart's success can be said that both good business model and the application of advanced information technology combination, it can be said that Wal-Mart's own "commercial retail enterprises" status beyond. Through the analysis can be found in Wal-Mart, the company to the people left the deepest impression is that it's a set of advanced, efficient logistics and supply chain management systems. It's the reason why it can be success in America and Canada.
Wal-Mart's success may be a considerable number of other companies a little "feel powerless and frustrated" feeling, not to mention Wal-Mart has its own satellites and large servers around the world, Wal-Mart's only cargo transport vehicles each have satellite mobile computer systems this point, China's enterprises would be difficult to emulate. Similarly, maintaining this vast network of IT investment and upgrade management costs are also not many companies can afford.
However, since the company's model is success in America and Canada, they use the same model in Europe that ignore the local company and the local culture in Germany. That's why the company got failure in Europe.
Here some recommendation to Wal-Mart, hope the company can be successful in Europe and Asia:
Achieve localization, Wal-Mart stores need to cater to local needs, local characteristics of the goods can be effective.
Take other existing shops and other acquisition roundabout way to achieve localization. This one Wal-Mart has already bought Trust-Mart to be one of the supermarkets of Wal-Mart in China. This strategy can be used in Europe but be careful the competitor especially Carrefour.
Lay the dealings with the government, Wal-Mart in order to make their own advanced and efficient information systems play a role in other countries, is bound to keep the local government to lay dealings, negotiations and exchanges do more, and to come up with evidence to prove their satellites are legitimate commercial satellites rather than spy satellites, thereby gaining the trust of the local government.
