Cyrano and Roxane are similar but still have many similarities. In the play Cyrano de Bergerac Cyrano, a large nosed French solider and poet is in love with a beautiful lady named Roxane, but Christian another French solider loves Roxane but he is more handsome. To make Roxane happy they work together until Christian dies. In the movie Roxanne Charlie a small town firefighter chief falls in love with a lady named Roxane but so does a new firefighter named Chris who is more handsome and Charlie ends up helping Chris get Roxanne. He does until Chris leaves Roxanne for the female bartender. As you can see there are many similarities such as the theme of inner beauty and differences in the actions of the characters.
In both cases Roxanne first falls in love with someone handsome but finds out that she is truly in love with the mind and personality.
In book Cyrano de Bergerac Christian stays faithful to Roxane but dies at war while in the movie Roxanne Chris leaves Roxanne for another woman.

In both the movie and book Roxane realized that she loved personality of the person and that looks did not matter. But in the book Christian dies and in the movie he leaves Roxane, because he does not love her any more.
