On Tuesday September 11, 2001 the unthinkable happened in America. The two World Trade Centers in New York City and the Pentagon in Washington D.C were struck by airplanes that were hijacked by terrorists. This terrible tragedy killing many people had a deep impact on the whole nation. American citizens are grief stricken, left in fear, and full of revenge to the people who committed such an awful thing.
I, along with many of my peers are confused on how a destruction so powerful could have taken place in a super power nation without being detected. Another thing that I am not sure of is what did the United States do or not do to that resulted in the loss of so many innocent American lives to be taken away? All of these people had family and friends that loved them so much. These victims did not do anything wrong. They showed up to work to carry out their daily life routine. Others that were killed in this horrific situation were traveling in a plane to see family they loved, to complete a business deal, or just taking a vacation. However, all of these American citizens were all expecting to return home that night.
Not only were innocent people killed in this wreck, but also American heroes. The type of heroes that each and every one of us see every day but never stop to thank them for devoting their lives to save others. These heroes are firemen. Firemen rushed in to the building not thinking about themselves, but thinking of those who were in danger. They climbed the stairs inside the building with every intent of saving lives. Little did they know that the building was a death trap. Just seeming like minutes later, the building tumbled to ground zero taking them with it. I think that we must honor them because while others were running out of the building, the firemen went running in.
Even though so many American lives were already taken away, I hope that is the only destruction that will happen. Things like this are what cause war. War takes away even more people's lives. The world has become so advance that now we and many other countries have nuclear warfare that can completely destroy all life on earth. As a 16-year old high school student in the United States of America, I am extremely fearful as to what will result from this act of terror.
I hope that from here all goes well and we just harshly punish those who are behind this. There is nothing young people like me can do to punish
