SHOULD LIANA GO BACK TO ORCHIS
Liana appear to be very capable person to find another product development job in other companies if she wants. She is now a knowledge worker she could contribute her knowledge, skills and talents as well her experience in the process of developing new products and launching them as she did with her product Musiophile.
So she should really analyze if going back to her old job is the right move.
Could first determine her career goals and think if that job in Orchis or which company can best support her goals. Which company can better provide like chances of career development.
Also, She needs to think about former co-workers and peers will react. They might not be welcoming to her return or the ones that were once her peers are going to be managed by her. are they going to like the fact that she is going to be their boss. Is she going to have credibility and be respected by them when she was assigned to be leader of the development team and was not able to complete the project and succeed.
All can see she likes coming with new ideas and desires to execute them but does not want to launch another start-up cause it really means taking in too much risk now that she has a family to take care. Eventhough, she should not accept that job because the company seems to block any attempts for real innovative products. It may seem as the company is not open for innovation and creative yet. So maybe this is a problem that comes from within the culture that the company has established and Liana is going to have to deal with this. And changing a company's culture is not an easy thing to do, people's mind have to be change and the ways things were done.
As she is going to be only Director of Product development and for a change to occur it has to come from the top, top executives and managers have to support it also and value it, to make them also examples of what the other employees should focus in. Probably even the training programs are going to have to be modified, like new ways on how to do the research, the testing for the products. Or have to identify if employees with new skills are needed.
