Six Actors In Search of A Plot
Six actors in search of a plot was created by Muhammad Ahmed Zaher and Billy Yalowitz. I believe the play was exceedingly interesting. Never have I witnessed a play so different from others.
Six actors in search of a plot, originally involved eight actors/actress, but only two of the actresses played as the midwifes in the birth scenes of the show. The play involves both Palestinian and Jewish men and woman, who have been striving to get along with each other, especially this July when the bombing occurred within their countries. They have been working on this play for more than a year, slowly detaching their past of annoyance, and suspicion towards one another.
This play regards six young actors who are trying to put together a play, but can not decide on a plot. They are split into two groups of three, Jews and Arabs. Both group were having a difficult time communicating with each other. They decide to perform various scenes, trying to discover a plot. All of the scenes and plots created by the six actors were fascinating. The plot that interest me the most, was the "Bringing a Rapist to Justice" plot. They accused a Palestinian man of raping an Jewish woman.
Their were six birth stages included in the play. It was hard for me to understand why they would included birth scenes in a play about six actors trying to find a plot. Later, it occurred to many people including myself, that the birth scenes represented both Jew and Arab nations, trying to survive off of each other.
