When I was in school teachers showed a specific way of life to the students in which was a way of social control as a tool for social change such table etiquette, students were disciplined for acting rudely or disrespectfully without fear that "it would hurt their mental development" Bible was still allowed to be read then Christianity was respected and revered, and students had more creativity and imagination and could think for themselves and not have to worry about meeting governmental standards for tests.
