The purpose of the visit to Mr. and Mrs. Smith apartment was to ensure the safety of 18 month old Libby because allegations were made against the Smith about Libby not being supervised. The Smiths' apartment was clean upon arrival. Libby appears to be a happy, playful, and energetic little girl. She was well kept and groomed. During the home visit, Stephanie, Mr. Smith's sister took on the responsibility of caring for Libby. Stephanie continued to take on the responsibility of caring for Libby when both parents were also present. During the interview Mr. Smith seems to be irritated and inattentive to the caseworker. The caseworker inquired about their employment, loud noises coming from the apartment, and substance abuse. The Smiths' stated that they both worked from midnight to eight in the morning. Stephanie also worked from four to midnight living a 30 to 45 minute gap of Libby being by herself. The Smiths' and Stephanie noted that they were not able to change their schedule at work. When the case worker enquired about daycare for Libby, the Smiths' and Stephanie stated that after all the expenses was paid they did not have the financial resources to send Libby to daycare. Throughout the interview, Mrs. Smith was cooperative she answered the questions that was presented to her. The caseworker helps the Smiths to come up with a solution to help the family. Mrs. Smith told the case worker that she would talk to her supervisor see if she can have her schedule changed. The caseworker plan on doing a background check on the Smiths and do a follow up vist with the family.
