The System Development life cycle consist of seven phases: planning, systems analysis, development, testing, implementation, maintenance.
Step one in the planning process is understanding what is needed from the program, then
outlining a proposed plan; the budget and a detailed development schedule.
Step two would be the systems analysis, which can consist of several types of analysis: economic, technical, operational, schedule. This step two process is used to determine whether a company should modify an old system, or build a new system.
Step three of the process is called the design phases. One a team determines what is required of the new system, the building process can begin. The design phases consist of two parts.( Logical and Physical) this will describe each part of the design, and its function.
Step four of the process is the development phases. Once it has been determined what type of system design is needed a development team can began to actually build the system.
Step five of the process is the testing phase. each module is tested using a method called stud testing. The purpose of this test is to determine the proper outputs of a system thru a series of inputs. The second phase of testing is called unit testing. This phase test the modules has a whole unit. The third phase of testing is called the systems test. This test
Involves running the system to see if it works.( development teams network) thru verification and validating.
Step six of the process is called implementation. After development and testing, the program is ready to be applied to the work environment of the client.
Step seven of the process is maintenance. This process include: correcting errors, backing up data, recovering data, support, enhancing.
