Special Occasion Speech

Dedication Speech

Good evening Ladies and gentlemen. Thank you for coming to tonight’s Poetry Night. It is overwhelming seeing people form Maritime Education, Business Administration, Computer Studies, Nursing, Education, Engineering, Criminology and of course from College of Arts and Sciences. Thank you guys for coming!

So before I officially open tonight’s show, let me tell you a brief, and loving story. It is about THIS show.

We were practicing our piece that we are going to perform on the 44th Foundation Day celebration of CU when she announced that she has to leave University and study and teach abroad. We were all shocked, happy and sad at the same time. We would never say the subject Ma’am Zola taught us was easy, it was never easy. We had sleepless nights because we have to write a 1000 words essay and we were scolded a hundred times for not giving enough energy and emotion during our theater play and for being ALWAYS late. Those times were the reason why we had a close bond with this Amazing woman. She taught us beyond what is stated in her syllabus she worked beyond her job description. She was influential and a friend, sister, best friend in one person. And now sadly she has to leave, not because she does not what to teach in CU anymore, but because she has to share her wonderful passion to the world.

This night is for all of us but we dedicate this event to Ma’am Zola. She is the mind of this event and she will forever be a part of this event. Because she never gave up and she never stopped doing what she loved which are: teaching and art. For Zola Gonzalez Macarambon, bring your Z power in Australia and bring smile to their faces! And once again!

Good evening ladies and gentlemen. I welcome you all to this year’s Music and Poetry Night: Hugot!! Enjoy the night!
