The National Lewis and Clark Corporation started out as a small business and in the past two years have grown to a large business employing about two hundred and fifty employees. In the being the company did not have a Human Resource Department, since its growth it is in high demand they set one in place. In order to comply with laws and regulation the Human Resource Manager should do some intense research and study to have in place every practice a company needs to stay completive and ensure they are in compliance with the law as well as have in place a well diversity training program. Before implementing a Human Resource Department the company knowledge of certain laws relating to hiring, according to the Equal Employment Act, training and accommodation employees and customer with a disability, practice was very limited. Several employees of the company have a disability and feel they are being treated unfairly (Course Material, 2010).
Sears, Roebuck and company according to Peter David Blanck a Professor of Law and of Psychology, University of Iowa perform a case study of their practice on the work force and the accommodation set in place for their employees and customers with disabilities. Sears pre- and post American with Disabilities employment practices has been utilized in different corporation, education, and governmental training programs and the Human Resource Manager at National Lewis and Clark Corporation could benefits from their practice. Sears believe a fully design program should be in place that would include persons in with and without disabilities to participate the productive work force. Every company should educate their managers on the work force about American with Disabilities Acts and this training should solely be based on facts and not on mythology. According to Blanck Sears's accommodation for their employees with disabilities were of little or no cost. By hiring, working with, and accommodating qualified employees with disabilities this help to enhance their customer foundation, their employee's morale, alone with their overall line of attack on their goals and the value of their shareholders. The CEO at Sears, Martinez stated, American business is evolutionary, and not revolutionary with the impact it has on American with Disability and management in employees in the workforce should be educate about people with a disability. Sears management found effective workplace accommodations for an employee who is qualified with a disabilities result in the bottom line benefit the company-in terms of customer's service, productivity in work, effectiveness and efficiency (Course Material, 2010).
Sears made assess ability to work and during work easy for their employees and customers by installing automatic doors opening, visual impaired cards readers. Access ability to rest room by equipping them with guard rail for people in wheel chairs this helps the company employees to remain productive,
