Street racing is a deadly sport loved by many teenagers. The thrill of speeding to gain respect for yourself and your car. When I say street racing, I don't just mean the actual act of two cars speeding and trying to beat each other. I'm talking about the entire street racing "scene" or "phenomenon". A few of the reasons why street racing is so dangerous are the high speeds, unsafe surroundings, adrenaline rushes, deadly risks, and illegal actions. Many teenagers don't think about the risks involved when putting the petal to the floor.

In street racing the cars run at very high speeds. These cars can go up to 60mph in just 4 seconds. Most street races happen late at night with tired and drunk teens. As you can imagine there is nothing safe about a situation like this. These cars are going faster than they can drive them. While going so fast you cannot

pay attention to what or who is in front of you. You are causing a danger to yourself and everyone around you. While hitting top speeds you cannot

control your car or stop quickly in an emergency. The streets aren't made for cars to go racing on and the car isn't made to hit the speeds that you force them to hit. Taking this chance and racing your car can cause you serious hurt.

Another reason why street racing is so dangerous is the unsafe surroundings. When I say unsafe surroundings, I mean the unsafe roads, and the pedestrians in the cars beside you and on the street. Many teenagers race from street lights. You roll up and rev your engine a little just to race a random stranger in the car next to you. The roads are risky In the sense that any road could be wet and slippery or bumpy and hard. While racing you may not have time to stop for that pedestrian crossing the street. All these are reasons why your surroundings are unsafe and unstable.

Another reason why street racing is so dangerous is the teenage adrenaline rush. Street racing gives you a thrill of chancing death by racing someone down a dangerous path. While racing your adrenaline rises as your speed increases. For some racers, adrenaline is something you can't beat. Its like a drug, you got some, you want more. You got power, you want more. You never stop. That's how street racing is described. Its putting your foot to the floor knowing that you are going as fast as possible. Its your blood rushing through your body
