Realism is an approach to the study and practice of international politics which emphasizes the role of the nation-state and makes a broad assumption that all nation-states are motivated by national interests. To the realist the national interest is defined in terms of power. As Morgenthau, founding father of the theory, describes it "all politics is power politics." There is debate whether absolute or relative power should be sought. The ideology postulates that all states seek to preserve their political autonomy and their territorial integrity. Morgenthau, with this theory, believed that he could provide universal law-like explanations for the external behaviour of all sovereign states

NB: study should provide answers and in seeking these legitimate answers as scholars it is our duty to examine all conceivable actors and their implications.
