How to restructure a Class Council:

According to the New American Dictionary (2005 Edition);

Leadership is defined as the ability to lead and take objective. It is the ability to take organizational objectives and successfully implement them to better a society.

I truly believe that we can apply this definition to ourselves throughout the remainder of this school year, as we each were elected to lead our class into our Senior year of 2007-2008. I realize that three months have passed and we have yet to change our class bulletin board, due to a lack of unified leadership. I feel as though this has been made into a political issue. I see that this is not a political issue, but a leadership issue. Whether or not we may be seeking higher office next year, we must work together as a unitary group whether we like it or not. I am not directing this in any derogatory

manner whatsoever.

As class President, I ask the following of each of us:

1: We will meet weekly, immediately following the Student Council meetings, as a Class Council to discuss the issues before us and to better work together as a unified group.

2: We will take on more class projects. I recommend three class projects for this year in an attempt to make up for our lack of working together thus far. We will also have a plan in action for our main student council class project (The Tree planting in front of the campus in the spring.) This plan must be completed by November 1, 2006.

3: I ask that we work as a team. I recommend the following:

The President and Secretary will devise a committee focused on student satisfaction. This committee will be referred to as the Student Academics and Study Committee. This committee will conduct a study bi-monthly of which will be focused on student satisfaction. This committee will meet weekly as well.

The Vice President and Treasurer will devise a committee focused on Student Safety and Extracurricular Activities. This committee will meet weekly.

4: Class bulletin boards will be replaced weekly, on each Wednesday. This practice will help us keep up with current events at West.
