The two stories that I chose to distinguish against are A & P and The Cast of Amontillado. In the A & P, the author basically gives you clues that let you understand that this story takes place in an old, small setting grocery, because in the story he states, "This whole store is like a pinball machine and I don't know which tunnel they'd come out of, and also, "I go through the punches, 4, 9, Groc, Tot, which further lets you know that technology was not that great and it has to have been awhile back. As for the plot this story is told in sequential order. Things happen in a certain order one, two, three for instance; first, the girls walk in, then they walk around the store searching for what they want, third, they buy the item, etc. The author makes it where the guy in the story basically is telling the story and he describes the girls from head to feet, what they had on, and the expressions on their faces, etc. They boy is telling the story and he has an attraction to one of the girls this is why his descriptions of the girls are so thorough. This story uses protagonist where the boy that worked in the grocery was the hero that stood up for the girls when the manager told them that they had to leave the store he thought that was unfair and decided to sacrifice his job to stand up for the girls.

The Cask of Amontillado takes place in a dark room, maybe an abandoned place where it has been raining or located in some type of water surroundings; " I took from the scones two flambeaux, and giving one to fortunate bowed him through several suites of rooms to the archway that led into the vaults. I passed down a long and winding staircase
I requested him to be cautious as he followed. We came at length to the foot of the descent and stood together on the damp ground of the catacombs of the Montresors". And also, the phrase "arrived at a deep crypt", leads you to believe that this took place in an abandoned area. The story is told in a non-sequential order. The author makes you read the story for a second time to understand it and makes you think when you read so that you can put the story together and understand what he is trying to say. The author make Amontillado seem like a fierce, warrior or object that no one can stand up to or can not defeat. He or it has many powers and is very mighty. The author is basically telling this story. He has a certain person that he is describing but he also describes two other characters or personalities. There is not particular person that stands out and is described to the fullest but Amontillado. Therefore the author is basically telling about his encounters with Amontillado and Fortunato and past experiences. The Cask of Amontillado creates suspense because the reader is made anxious about what is going to happen. In the Cask of Amontillado this story uses lots of foreshadowing because in the beginning he tells you about his encounters with this Amontillado and Fortunato but he really doesn't elaborate on the reading so it keeps you wondering what is to come. He also
