SunCom is a wireless carrier that operates in Southeastern United States, and parts of the Caribbean. This operation provide services across North Carolina, South Carolina, Northern Georgia, parts of Tennessee, Southwest Virginia, as well as Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands.
SunCom was founding in January 1999 by Mark Balfour. SunCom was formerly known as, Triton PCS Holdings. This company is a subsidiary. The headquarters is located in Berwyn, PA. The CEO is Michael E. Kalogris and Eric Haskell is the Executive Vice President and CFO. This company provides wireless communication services to approximately 1.1 million subscribers. SunCom have more than 1,900 employees, who understand the importance of wireless service. They are committed to providing customer the highest quality network simple service plans, which delivers real value.
SunCom has gone through many deals with other carriers, in the past. Those changes includes acquiring customers from Cingular Wireless and the exchange of cell towers, to better their services and profit.
Originally, SunCom provided wireless service utilizing TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access is digital transmission technology that allows a number of users to access a single radio frequency, used for radios and cell phones); at this point, that has been replaced by the utilization of GSM (Global System for Mobile communications), as its technology platform.
Suncom, as a whole, has been very successful over the years, with average revenue of $826.16 million. The key people who contributed to the success, of this business, were the customers.
After nine years, in the business, SunCom was acquired by TMobile on February 22, 2008. TMobile acquired SunCom for approximately $1.6 billion in cash and $800 million in assumed debt.
