I have always taken a liking to dogs over any kind of animal. However, about 4 Ð'Ð... years ago my dog, Cid, died. A car hit him on October 31, chasing a squirrel across the road. Little did I know my future sister-in-law, Ann would be looking for another Rat Terrier secretly.
Since my sister was looking for a truck, my dad made an excuse that we all had to go look at this truck in the Coloma area. I was not in the least bit thrilled or curious that we all had to go look at the truck. Therefore, my whole family gets into our car and rides down to the Coloma area. Once we get there, I am more confused than curious. Since the truck is an old beater with a flat tire, broken window, and rusting so bad that there were monstrous rust holes in it.
When we get there, an older woman opens the door with a warm smile and welcomes us in. She motions for us to come inside the house. Once we get in the porch, we suddenly stop and everyone looks at me. At this point, I am oblivious to the medium size box, near my feet, with two tiny Rat Terriers inside. Nevertheless, once I hear a scratching noise along with a little whimper I look down to my left and see the two cute puppies begging for attention. As soon as I notice them, I cannot help but cry. To the woman's bewilderment, my dad explains why I am crying and the story of my last Rat Terrier, Cid. As he is telling the story I reach down to grab a puppy.
When we decided which one we want the woman says, "$125 should be plenty," and my dad hander the money as we walk out to the car with a six month old male puppy. Once we get home, we talked about what we should name him and we chose, Skip. To this day Skip is alive and doing wonderful.
