Thoughts from the Tao-te Ching
In this paper I will be discussing question three on page 32 of the Suggestions for Writing. Do I feel that the American leaders should follow these beliefs? Also, what are the likely results of these being put into action? Are questions I will be discussing in this short essay.
Do I feel that the American leaders should follow these beliefs? Personally, I do not feel the American leaders should follow the beliefs in the Tao-te Ching. I believe if they were to follow the belief that: If we let go of law, the people become honest. I think society in a whole is naturally deceitful, and society would take advantage of the opportunity. There would be mass chaos, theft, etc. Although, I do believe that after a longtime society would then straighten out and the Tao-te Ching may be right in it's beliefs. But, I do not feel the American leaders should attempt to put these beliefs into action.
What are the likely results of these being put into action? As I mentioned before there would most likely be mass chaos, vandalism, theft, etc. I believe that if these beliefs were put into action during the establishment of the government, that the people may coincide with the Tao-te Ching's beliefs. But, if they were put into practice now society would not behave as intended. As I said before, I do not believe the American leaders should put these beliefs into action.
