Target is a large corporate retail store that operates with in all fifty states of the United States. With over one thousand stores they are one of the leading markets in commercial retail. Target offers its customer's high quality goods at discount prices. Much like Wal-mart it sells a variety of goods from clothing to food items, cosmetics to small appliances. However, Target has made a name for itself selling more trendy and better, high quality goods. During my two-day workshop I will be going over and discussing a range of topics. We will be looking at the company's code of ethics and a variety of things that are entailed in that, including charities and community service involvement. For the second part of the seminar we will be looking at possible improvements in the manner in which the employees are being trained, to create more productive, harder working employees. Finally a discussion of personality measures will be giving to improve the type of employees that are initially hired for the company.

First, the code of ethics that a company carries is very important in many different ways. Ethical behavior within the company is substantially important because not only are they morally correct, but also improves their financial performance, customer loyalty, and overall satisfaction of its workers. Those that show a clear understanding and a broad commitment to their ethics policy statistically outperform other companies. By increasing the quality of the ethics code for your company will definitely enhance your corporate reputation. Customers are substantially more loyal to those companies that clearly demonstrate high commitment to causes and charities. Potential employees are more likely to want to work for a company that they know treats their employees well. Not only does it attract more potential employees but also keeps the employees loyal to the company decreasing the rate of people quitting and taking jobs elsewhere.

Apprenticeship programs would best fit this given situation. First, the classroom training should first be introduced to the employee. During this formal training session the instructor will describe and explain various job requirements and provide the employee with tips and advice on the best way to perform the given tasks. Following the classroom training will be a type of on-the-job training where the new hired employees will learn hands on how to perform any of their given tasks and being able to incorporate what was initially learned during the classroom session. Another important key to effective training is the various ways in which skills are learned. Participation is a key factor, statistically people learn faster and are better able to retain information when they actively participate in the job. This is what makes the hands on type training important during the process. Another key factor to effective training is the transfer of the training to ones job. This basically is the degree to which the training actually transfers to the actual tasks and jobs they will be performing. Feedback is also very important during the training process. Remember to keep the employees
