Tawhid and jihad both have their own meanings and importance, both are essential for an Islamic life in very obvious ways. Tawhid means the oneness of God, yet if this is said than it can also be said that humans are created in his likeness, "mirror image", yet we are all built in pairs, always seeking union, to achieve oneness to become that much closer to Tawhid, or the oneness of God. Our path is clear, but we must transcend from our state of duality to a single entity in marriage, which is divinely inspired and encouraged, but the elemental factor of marriage does not give oneness, it only heeds to its eventuality that must be attained to reach God. One must achieve inner peace through correct moral intentions and a positive lifestyle; this is the key to reach Gods oneness. To accept Tawhid, you must submit to the natural instinctual behaviors that make us man, under God, in likeness of God. It is coming back to the first breadth of life, it is recognizing the covenant and testimony that he created, all the signs that lead us back to this purity of beginning, our first breadth, must be followed, one less sign accepted makes it that much harder to humble oneself to the Creator.
Jihad is a constant and balanced effort, the Way, which is achieved at many different levels all in essence to seek purity of the being and of the collective whole of mankind, which is appropriated at many levels which all lead toward justice, which demands an individual and collective effort. Jihads are through many efforts of the body and soul to erase any egoisms, violence, discrimination, and other human conditions that provoke evil or negative behavior towards God or man, the jihads also give defense to basic human rights, such as the freedom of expression or any civil and social liberties. None of the jihads can be brought about in man without a search and inevitable attainment of inner peace. They must be recognized and followed for one to live a successful Islamic life, which is to reach Him.
These jihads apply all the same to Muslims living outside of Muslim countries. In the Western world though, the approach must be different, the main focus should be on the inner peace and the teachings associated with that and the consciousness of reason. The approach will be different in non-Muslim countries, but the goal remains impervious to the geography, we are all the same, it is just some cultural differences may make the steps of Jihad
