Concerning Technology
Within Heidegger's piece of technology, technology is a happening rather than a creation of complexity and his objective is reducing the essence and substance of technology to simpler concepts. His jumbling of terms and philosophical concepts left trying to connect the previous concept to the one just introduced. Introducing the concept of causality, which is designed to reveal the end, is the actual beginning. I lost myself at this point because I didn't know if the interpretation should be of one occasion or causality should be expanded to involve all events and history. The concept of causality could be extended to the farthest reach technology can be able to control energy produced by nature. The energy stored by our technology is the challenge of controlling. Heidegger refers to challenge as a form which is self-revealing of man and is the essence of modern technology which he labels, Enframing. The method taken of explaining Enframing and its relation to danger, freedom of humankind and human destiny leads me away from my prior understanding of Enframing. The jumbled concepts brought my logic at a point where our activity is engrossed in securing ourselves, and ensure our freedom, which reintroduces the notion of challenge.
From what I took from the reading is part of the essence of technology is endangering to our freedom. Heidegger does not clearly define freedom as he defined his other concepts, and from these light definitions I was unable and lost myself within the text. I find it too simple or wrong to connect technology and revealing to one another because technology is a happening and revealing is the reserve.
