As we know there are so many reasons for the teenagers to develop bad habits which include taking drugs, smoking or gambling etc. These are really common bad habits among teenagers in Hong Kong. However, what causes the young people start taking up these bad habits?
Firstly, most of the teenagers are under enormous pressure coming from work and study. However, they will not have a communication with the parents or they even cannot find a friend who can be trusted or know them well. Then, they just bear all the unhappiness and become more and more pessimistic. Finally, they just feel tired and start giving up themselves. They are suffered from so much negative sentiment that they want to escape from the reality and find some ways or things to cover their bad feelings. Then, the bad habitats were developed gradually.
Secondly, the peer influence is also a major to make the teenager develop such bad habits. Teenagers are still young and they cannot define whether the behavior is right or wrong. They just follow what their friends do. As a result, the teenagers associate with bad companions, they will fall into the "trap" easily. Furthermore, as the teenagers are in puberty, they are especially treasonable. Making good friends is very important to the teenagers.
The last reason is the lacking in the communication with parents. Actually, communication is extremely important for a teenager to have a both physical and psychological healthy life. Parents really play an important role in the growth of the teenagers. As the teenagers lack the concerns of the parents or even the teachers, they try to do some bad behavior to draw the attention from the adults. Moreover, they will give up themselves by hurting themselves if the adults just ignore them. In conclusion, communication is really important.
As the reasons I have mentioned above, we need to have solution to solve them. The first solution is education. Teachers need to teach them how to release their pressure correctly but not doing something which are illegal or dangerous. Teenagers needed to be taught how to develop good hobbies to release their pressure in a right way such as listening to the music, playing instrument, playing sports etc. These ways are absolutely healthy and effective. Therefore, helping young people to develop a good hobby is very important.
