$200,000 per game, $3.5 million dollars base salary per year, $48.97 million for a 7 year contract that was signed only 1 year ago, that is what All-Pro wide receiver, Terrell Owens is losing
"for conduct detrimental to a team."
Controversy has always followed T.O., he was suspended (for one game) in 2000, by San Francisco's coach Steve Mariucci for his touchdown dance on the Dallas Cowboys' star logo. He had a heated dispute with Coach Reid, this summer and received a one week sit-out from training camp. Terrell turned that into a media circus by having his own mini camp & working out on his front lawn!
His trouble this time came after he talked to the media in a negative way, about his team and the teams quarterback, Donovan McNabb. Terrell is upset, because when he scored his 100th career touchdown on Oct.23 in a win over San Diego, management didn't acknowledge it. He did receive his acknowledgment, even before he set foot on the field in the form of a paycheck. Yes, he is only the sixth player in NFL history to achieve that status, but isn't that why he got the big bucks?
Should we be surprised by his actions? Not I, even though we are dealing with a man who is probably the best wide receiver in the history of football, he has never been made to be accountable for his actions, before now. His previous teams, the media and even the fans have always looked the other way and of course T.O. has his publicist to help smooth things over and even apologize for him. Sounds to me like a case of "SHOW ME THE MONEY."
