The word “Nigga” and why it doesn’t offend me.
From what I was taught this word “Nigga” came from way back in the day. You see that’s what a slave owner used to call us. But to me that is not a name like Susan and Joseph this word has a real meaning. But, if you look for “Nigger” in the dictionary it says it’s Slang: Extremely disparaging and Offensive. A person of any race or origin regarded as disgraceful, lower, ignorant, etc. But if you look for “Nigga” it says extremely offensive name for a Black person; "only a Black can call another Black a nigga. Which to me isn’t true because there has been times when I have heard white people call there friends that. To me these words are the same but have to total different meanings and the meaning to one doesn’t really make sense.
To me it’s a word that has many meanings. When someone’s says oh yea that’s my “nigga” that means yea that my boy. But someone can also say Look at the stupid “nigga” which means their talking about there actions and there actions maybe ignorant. But if you can remember the definitions on the words, someone that acts ignorant should be called a “nigger” because of there actions. Not a “nigga.” A little confusing to me.
When I hear someone of a different race use the word it doesn’t offend me. Not even a little bit. To me it’s a universal word that can be used but only at the right time. People know the limits on when to use it and when not to use it. Its a simple little word with thousands of meanings but which one is correct? Guess we’ll never know.
