THE AMERICAN DREAM
So what is this dream all about? One would probably describe it as being rich and famous, some would probably say that it is to have a lot of power; however, our personal definition of an American dream is the ability to have freedom, being able to get the highest level of education, being successful in finding a good job, having a healthy and happy family, and eventually letting that grow into successful life. All these factors make up the American dream and exist as a goal for every person who is trying to reach it.
Over the years many people have come to America in search of freedom of religions, freedom of speech, the privilege of getting a good education and much more. Even when the Puritans came hers, they were in hopes of being able to escape political prosecution and being allowed the freedom to practice religion. That is the American dream to most--being able to come to a new place where you can make anything possible if you work hard enough. There is no limit to what you can accomplish in America and becoming successful is part of the ultimate dream.
The ability to be able to be free made America the country it is today. It has evolved into a place where people can come to have the freedom to say what they feel. In most countries a person is told by the government what they will become or are born into a caste system where they are stuck until death. In America we could be born into a poor family and excel to great fortunes. The "American Dream" allows people to control their own destiny. The "American Dream" is what makes us so special and it is this dream that is the very core of America.
