Guitar 0122

Posted on: Saturday, September 5, 2015 5:03:47 PM EDT

Don't forget that Monday is Labor Day and there is no class.

After last weeks classes, you should be on your way to memorizing all of the natural notes (no sharps or flats) in the first position of the guitar which will cover the open string and frets 1, 2, and 3. You will achieve this goal by learning all of the material from page 16 to 47 in the Method book. Work at your own pace. Study several ages a day.

Good Luck!

First Class

Posted on: Wednesday, August 19, 2015 5:37:59 PM EDT

Please bring your guitar to the first class and try to come early so I can check everyone’s guitar. I will be set up and ready in the auditorium by 8:30 am. Our classroom is an open space with different departments having classes there throughout the day so it not a safe place to leave your guitar. The Music Building at 5th and Bellefield does have lockers that will fit a guitar. The lockers are rented out on a first come basis.

I would like to organize the performance test schedule. Please send (ferla@andrew.cmu.edu) your available days and times as soon as possible and give me several choices from this list of dates and times. I will then pick a specific time/day for you that fits both of our schedules:

Monday, December 14, from 8:30 am until 12 pm and 1 pm until 2:30;

Wednesday, December 16 from 8:30 am until 1 pm;

Friday, December 18 from 8:30 am until 3 pm.

Your individual performance test will last about 10 minutes and will be in Bellefield Hall, room 310A (near the pitt YMCA office).
