The Civil War was one of the bloodiest and gruesome wars ever known in American history. Although the war was pretty much over before it started. The South did not ever have a chance at winning, because the North had more forces and was much stronger. The South had a much smaller population compared to the North. The South was also not as organized and the North was in regards to their government.
The North had a major advantage. The North retained most of the U.S. Navy which was good for the North because 5 of the 24 states bordered the ocean, therefore, the North could attack the South through the water swiftly and accurately. The South was not able to return fire, because they simply did not have a Navy or any type of armed force that could counter the attacks on the water.
The South also had another disadvantage was that the North had a population of over 13 million people. Therefore the North had more people to not only fight for them, but also more people to work for the success of the North. Commonsense tells us that the more people you have the better your chances are at winning. The North took full advantage of having more able men to help them win the war with the South.
The North also knew what they were doing. Unlike the South, the North had a very strong government under the command of Abraham Lincoln. The North would not lose this war. The North had fought in several wars in the past. The South on the other hand went into the battle with no real experience. The Southern force was just going around shooting at the guys in the opposite uniform.
Further more, the South never really had a good chance at winning the war. They put up an admirable fight, but when it came right down to it, the North completely dominated the South.
