I play every position and every way a soccer player can play. One minute I am plowing over another player and losing my temper, trash talk, like last night against Middleville, I broke a kid's nose and got suspended until Thursday (three games) from the team. Then the next minute I am the nicest on the field; like against Ottawa Hills. I will help the other team up and have nice conversations with them.
Just like me, other players play differently at different times. There is always that one player on the field that tries to body everyone up and play physical; then there is that players that kisses ass and tries to be friends with everyone. Then of course there are those players that do both at the same time or ones that just keep their mouths shut but will play as hard as possible and help the other players up.
The Dirty Players:
The dirty players are legit dirty. They hack (take out ankles and push everyone around), yell at the refs, and are just plan undisciplined on the field. I play like this a lot and I will admit it. I will push people around like ragdolls, and try to start stuff with anyone I get a chance too, just to get in their heads. Last night against Thornaple-Kellogg Middleville, I went up for headers and threw elbows broke a kids nose and stomped on a kids leg. Oh and I pulled jerseys. That is for sure the dirtiest games I have ever played and I am not proud of it because I am a Christian and I know better not to, but just lost control of myself.
One thing that us dirty players can do is just pull ourselves out when we get heated and/or start to play dirty. I have done it at times to just calm down and let my emotions go away then just go back in and play hard but fair. Also if you just relax and take a deep breathe while still on the field then you will be fine. Yes this is advice to me too, but trust me don't you think it will work for you too?
The Hard but Quite Players:
Then there are those plays that play their hearts out, play hard, but very fair and keep their mouth shut. For players like this, good for you; you are the real captains of the team. Sometimes, not often, I do play like that and I feel that when I do, I play my best. I know for me, and correct me if I am wrong, but most of you feel better about yourself after games like that and if you win you feel accomplished.
One player that sticks out to me the most is Lionel Messi. He is the greatest player ever in the history of the game, and will play his heart out while playing extremely fair. No matter what he does, he will never purposely try to injure or start something with another play; and will always be respectful. One game that I remember distinctly is when Messi got ran over and the same guy tried to start a fight. Well the only thing Messi did was shake his hand, pat his back, and walked away. WOW! That is why he is the captain of the Argentina national team, and of Barcelona.
