The 12 Tables

The twelve tables were the first laws ever written down. The Plebeians were getting in to trouble and didn't know why. They wanted a voice in government. They demanded the laws be written down, and placed where everyone could see them. I think the 12 tables are the most significant, because today we have all of our laws written down. We adopted the technique of writing down the laws.

ColiseumThe Romans used the coliseum as entertainment. It held gladiator contests, where men could prove their bravery, by fighting until one of them died. It also held animal fights and re-enactments of naval battles. The Coliseum could hold around 55,000 spectators.GeographyItaly is a boot shaped country and forms a Peninsula into the Mediterranean Sea. Ancient Rome was a city surrounded by seven hills, located around the Tiber River in Central Italy. The Tiber River provided a water way to the Mediterranean Sea. Natural barriers helped protect ancient Rome from invadersChristianityEarly Christianity in Ancient Rome faced many difficulties. The Romans wanted everyone to worship the emperor. The first converters to Christianity were the slaves and poor because they had a great deal to gain from Christianity being successful. If it prevailed, they would not have to bow down to the emperor anymore. If they were caught worshipping Christianity they were faced with the death penalty. Even though Christianity was a struggle back then, it's apart of most of our daily lives.Julius Caesar

Julius Caesar was a great general and an important leader in ancient Rome. He introduced new laws, which were approved, reorganized the army, and improved the way the provinces were governed. After awhile some people began to think he was becoming to powerful. Plans were made to kill him. At a meeting, he was stabbed 23 times by members of the senate and his own friend Brutus.
