However, the Goo Goo Dolls do not stop there; they have recently written and recorded the song Before It’s To Late for the soundtrack of Transformers. This song is also the theme song for the main characters in the movie, Sam and Mikaela. The soundtrack for Transformers came out on July 3, 2007; which included performers such as The Used, Smashing Pumpkins, and Linkin Park. The soundtrack produced by Dairmuid Qunn and Jeff Aldrich under Warners Brothers Records, debuted at number 21 on the U.S Billboard 200, selling about 32,000 copies within its first week.
The Goo Goo Dolls formed in 1986 with John Rzeznik (vocals, guitar), Robby Takac (vocals, bass guitar), and George Tutuska (drums) in Buffalo, New York. The band was originally called Sex Maggot but when they booked their first show, they were asked to change their name due to the in ability of printing the name into the newspapers. The band than came to the name the Goo Goo dolls after finding the name in the True Detective newspaper ad for toys. Together the Goo Goo dolls produced there first album in 1986, Goo Goo Dolls. After the release of their first album, the Goo Goo dolls packed up and moved to Los Angeles. After releasing five albums, George Tutuska was asked to leave the band by John because he did not believe that George was fully committed. John Rzeznik and Robby Takac than hired Mike Malinin and from there the band went off touring. It was not until the release of the single Name that the new band began to experience success. Since the addition of Mike Malinin, the Goo Goo Dolls have produced four more albums for a grand total of nine albums. The band has recently worked on a new album set to release on November 2007.
