The events of September 11th and the impact of emotion and heartbreak that it brought upon the Americans was truly something I will never forget. I was in my history class taking notes on the morning of the 11th when one of the teachers walked into the classroom and whispered something to my teacher. With just a brief nod from my teacher and a quick thank you, the lesson continued. It wasn't until the end of the class when our teacher emotionally explained what had happened. Everyone was in complete and utter shock, breathlessly listening to every word our teacher was saying. Because we had a television in our classroom, we were able to quickly turn it on and for a few minutes, before ending class, we were able to see the horror occurring before our eyes.

Watching the constant replay of the falling towers and the terror in the eyes of the people running away from the smoke, made me realize how unbelievably real this all was. I couldn't believe that someone could do something this monstrous and inhumane to innocent people. It wasn't a dream and it wasn't a movie, it was our country experiencing its worst fear. Where was God? Was there God? Why this? Why us?

Questions haunted me after the events of September 11th: Where was God? Was there God? Why this? Why us? I began questioning God and wondering why He would let this happen. Why did innocent people have die? So many children lost parents and loved ones. So many hearts were broken. Why would God do this?

I wish I knew the answer, sadly I don't. However I don't think we should stop living our life and worrying about what might happen because life is too short to ponder on things which only prevent us from living. To say that September 11th has changed the way I lived would be pushing it. For me, this horrific tragedy really only proved to me how very precious life is and how important it is to live life to the fullest and to cherish each moment like it's our last. Because really, we are not guaranteed tomorrow or the day after that so we need to live each day and each moment like it's our last and really enjoy the gift of life.
