About the Author
• His mother taught Farsi and history at a large high school in Kabul.
• They chose not to return to Afghanistan because communists had seized power through a bloody coup.
• Instead of returning to Afghanistan, the Hosseini’s were granted political asylum by the United States and settled in San Jose, California.
• His father worked for the Afghanistan Foreign Ministry.
• His father worked for the Embassy of Afghanistan.
• His family lived in three different countries within the course of ten years.
• Hosseini graduated from Independence High School in San Jose in 1984 and enrolled at Santa Clara University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in biology in 1988.

Plot
Exposition:
• His dad got a plastic surgeon to get Hassan’s lip fixed.
• When they went walking and Assef was about to hurt Amir and Hassan.
• He started thinking that Hassan was getting more attention than him.
• He started getting mad when Hassan always came with him and Baba to everything.
• Felt that Hassan started to take over his life because he tends to have more stuff in common with Baba.
Rising Action:
• When Assef raped and harassed Hassan and Amir was a coward and hide behind the boxes.
• Baba started to pay more attention to Hassan and Amir then demanded Baba to make Ali and Hassan to leave.
• Hassan and Ali were to leave the house by the order of Baba.
• Baba dropped Hassan and Ali off at the airport.
• Taliban started to then invade Afghanistan.
Climax:
• Hassan and Ali are gone.
• Baba and Amir have to leave Afghanistan.
• They run away to Pakistan to escape the Taliban.
• Amir started to think that he had made a mistake by telling Baba to get Hassan taken away.
• They find a guy names Kamal and stay with him for a while.
Falling Action:
• Run away to America to get away from the trouble.
• Baba came to American so that Amir can have a new start in his life.
• Amir is taken to the bar to forget his past.
• Then he is given a Ford Grand Torino.
• He starts college, but displeased his father by saying he wants to major in English.
