Introduction
The Millennium Development Goals (MDG) was establish in 2000, which contained 189 United Nations member states and more than 23 international organizations that had promised to devote to achieve these eight goals: 1) reduce poverty and hunger; 2) universe primary education; 3) promote the gender equality in education area; 4) reduce children mortality rate; 5) improve mothers’ health; 6) overcome HIV/ADIS, malaria and other diseases; 7) contribute to environmental sustainability and 8) develop global partnership (Gemilli & Jackson, 2012). With the rapid development of various technologies, these new technologies might help human achieve these eight goals, such as the information and communication technologies (ICTs) which have the potential to make partnership goal come true (Byrne, Nicholson, & Salem, 2011). Moreover, the goals about mortality rates, poverty, education, as well as health can all be met through technological development, innovation or implementation. Doctors and scientists may find a new treatment to deal with HIV/ADIS, malaria and other diseases. As a result, the mortality rates can reduce by the development of medical technology. Similarly, the goals about poverty and education can also be met by developments of economic and technology. The following essay will analyze the example of information and communication technologies, which can fulfill the eighth goal of MDG.
Information and Communication Technologies
Information and communication technologies (ICTs) are now becoming global programs, which cover many different areas, such as public administration and business (Navarra, 2011).E-government, e-science and e-commerce, which are all examples of global ICT programs that are spreading worldwide (Navarra, 2011). ICTs can be used to explore a better world for technology transfers, as well as contribute to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG). Since the eight MDG is about global partnership, which needs a healthy trade environment to help with those developing countries both physically and mentally (Gemilli & Jackson, 2012).
