What are psychopaths? The definition of a psychopath is a person with an antisocial personality disorder, manifested in aggressive, perverted, criminal, or amoral behavior without empathy or remorse (Buss 5-6). The so called psychopath of Moonraker is Hugh Drax, and From Russia with Love is Red Grant. These villains are the epitome of the word psychopath.
Psychopaths are a kind of being that have no remorse of their actions (Buss 5-6). In the book, Moonraker, Hugh Drax is a perfect example. Drax wanted revenge. His plan was to have a nuclear test missile fire at London (Fleming, Moonraker 110-115). But that plan was revealed when Bond was captured and taken prisoner and Gala revealed Draxs' plans (Fleming, Moonraker 164-169). Bond quickly goes after Drax. Drax explains that he is in fact a German spy mistaken for a Briton when most of his face was blown off in WWII. He became a powerful businessman, always intending to get revenge on the country he hates (Fleming, Moonraker 190-195). However after Bond angers him Drax forgets to remove a blowtorch and Bond and Gala painfully use it to escape into a ventilation shaft. Then, after the rocket is set to fire they emerge from the shaft and Bond returns the rocket to its original settings so that after it takes off it plunges into the North Sea. Drax is killed by the bomb while escaping in a Soviet submarine (Fleming, Moonraker 230-242).
In the next novel, From Russia with love, The Villain, Donovan 'Red' Grant, is a Russian mastermind who is given the mission to eliminate Bond. This villain has no morals, no remorse. He will do whatever it takes to kill bond and accomplish his mission. The plan was not only to kill Bond, but also humiliate him around the world (Fleming, From Russia with love 40-45). The sick mind of Grant will only do something like this. The plan was for Bond to sleep with a Russian spy and secretly get videotaped and later on killed (Fleming, From Russia with love 50-60). Although everything was going according to plan, the Russian spy ends up falling in love with Bond and decides to help Bond (Fleming, From Russia with love 153-160). Grant captures Bond and gets an opportunity to kill Bond. But due to his pleasure of killing, he wanted to humiliate Bond before killing him. In the process of this, Bond ends up killing Grant and escapes from the Russians. (Fleming, From Russia with love 204-210)
