The Patriot
My personal response to the movie is that is a very detailed and descriptive movie that describes a man who sacrifices his life to fight in the war because they killed his son. Mel Gibson plays a widower with 7 kids and is determined to stay out of the war. Benjamin Martin( Mel Gibson) is a French-Indian war hero, and is always getting haunted by his past. His oldest son Gabriel decided to go to the war without his fathers permission.
After the war is coming closer to his home he finds his son coming home injured. While his father was trying to take care of him, wounded soldiers from both sides decided to go to Benjamin Martin for help and care. The Bristish side comes over and decideds to try and kill Gabriel. The Second oldest son runs to help his brother and he gets shot. When the bristish troops leave Benjamin Martin is determined to kill the man that killed his son. So him and 2 other younger sons chase after the bristish soldiers while they are walking and kill them while not being seen. Then Benjamin gets his name as "the Ghost".
When they did kill Colonel Tavington, the British soldier who killed his son he decided to go to war against the red coats, leaving his other 5 kids behind. Benjamin organizes militiamen into a guerilla unit to harass Colonel Tavingtons' army long enough to allow the French to arrive. In the American Revolution the French came over and tried to help the South.
