The Secret History

Who is the strongest person in the novel, that's a good question? All the characters in this book have their strengths and weaknesses and all of them have played a role in the development of the story. One of the characters, Henry, acts as though he is the ringleader of the whole group but in the end he looses it more then the rest of the kids. There isn't one major character in the novel, the character feed off the energy of each other to create the interesting personalities they all had. Through out the navel the characters personalities and the events of the novel, they tare them selves apart from the inside.

Out of all the characters Henry is one of the most rational characters of the novel, his inhuman ways of being a perfectionist and his strong willed mind are probably what got the better of him. He was a calm and yet cold-hearted person, he was always able to stay calm in any situation was mostly what allowed people to think that he was the leader of the group. But in the end he didn't have it any better then the rest.

Then there was Francis, he wasn't much a strong character her was more of the sacred, lazy, and spoiled type in the novel. He cared a lot about all of his friends but he could never be strong enough for him self, he always had someone there for him. He came from a family where his mother had him when she was younger and her grand parents raised them as if they where brother and sister. Francis was always there for his friends but he didn't have much a backbone. In the novel there is a scene where Camilla gets a piece of glass in betted into her foot and Francis is right there but he cannot

bring him self to take the glass out of her foot, Henry had to do it.

Bunny in the beginning was a very interesting character; his relationship with Henry explained a lot about there characters and it was believable. He is very much like the rest of the group but he is not nearly as intelligent ad the rest. He comes from an all American family, his dad a Clemson football star turned banker, and he had some brothers and no sisters. He was obnoxious to his friends; it was mostly because he saw them in a different light after the murder. He was the most innocent out of the whole group and the most outraged, this made him a threat to his friends, who used his spiteful behaviors to get ride of him. After he found out about the murder, every chance he got he would get what he wanted form them, a trip to Italy, expensive clothes, and restaurant bill covered. This began to ware down the group, and dry out the bank accounts even more.

The twins, Camilla and Charles, were quite to odd pair of kids. They where both orphans and ever since they were young kids all they had were each other. Camilla comes off as the damsel in distress in this novel, although she isn't you typical damsel in distress. She is quite independent and manipulative for a damsel in distress character but nonetheless; she was still a damsel in distress. She led us to believe that she was in love with Henry, but at the same time her brother for this abused her. Her strength as a character showed through her selfish yet strong willed personality.

A lot like his sister in so many ways Charles was the quiet shy kid of the novel. Him and his sister looked so much alike it hard to tell which one was in front of u until u got up close. He was portrayed as a really nice guy; he was one of the first to talk to Richard when the book started. Charles was able to keep the secrets to him self, he wasn't very social he really kept to him self.

Richard was the outsider of the novel, he came from a home where his parents cared more about them selves then they cared about him. Richard was one of the stronger characters in the story but not until later in the story. At first all he wanted to do was to fit in with these new kids and he would do any thing to impress them. Through out the story he slow started to realize that the only one he really had to worry about was Henry, if he got in good with him the rest of the group would follow with Henry. Richard was a
