The voyage
Beep, beep, beep: the sound of Andrew’s alarm clock going off on the Monday morning .He tries to sleep through but it just gets louder and louder BEEP, BEEP, BEEP. He rolls out of bed and gets ready for school. This was his last day of school. He brushes his dark blonde hair reflecting off the sun coming through the window, his deep dark blue as blue as the sea, his teeth so clean and white you could eat off them. He hears “ding dong” on the door - it was Andrews best friend Josh asking if Andrew and his sister Katie were ready for school and they went off to school. Andrew says cunningly “because we are early, why don’t we go on this scary detour that I know of, it'll be fun.”
“Ok” they both replied.
So they went off to go on this detour that Andrew ‘said’ he knew but he didn’t really and they didn’t make the right turning. They got to a dead end so they tried to turn back but there was just a brick wall that was 50 feet tall! And all that was in front of them was a dark yellow and green door.
“Should we go through it?” asked Josh.
“Yes what chance do we have here!” said Andrew.
“No what will be on the other side? I’m scared!” Katie shouted nervously,
“We have to!” Josh shouted
“Well I'm staying here!” answered Katie. So Andrew just picked her up and took her through the door. They got through and on the other side was a corridor with 4 doors with signs saying Prehistoric, Roman, Middle Ages and 20TH Century. They chose to walk through the 20th Century door and it looked just like the place where they had just come from but Josh knew there was something different. There were kids on the street, “No school - what has happened?” asked Katie. Andrew then realised that they were wearing clothes that looked 100 years old. Josh went up to someone and asked him “What year is this?”
He replied “Well its 1941, I'm James Dakens and you are?”
“I'm Josh and these are my friends Katie and Andrew”
“I have not seen you around here before, are you travellers or spies from
Germany?”
“We are from near here I think but we are lost”
“Oh well you can come to my place if you want?” James asked nicely.
“That would be great” Andrew said. Katie got out her phone and started playing Angry Birds not listening to a word they have just said about what year it is and how mobile phones would have not been invented.
“What is that toy you have?” shouted one of James’ friends. Before they had time to answer it a loud noise went off.
“Quick it’s a blitz, follow me.” Said James. They followed James to his house, which amazingly was the same house that
Andrew and Katie lived in; they went round the back and went into an odd shaped small house that was half under the ground. They crawled in and were amazed to see how they could fit a whole family inside. It was filled with books and candles and a couple of benches for beds.
