To Drink or Not to Drink?

Deciding whether or not to start drinking is a personal choice. The decision is not always as clear cut as considering the negative effects of ones health by drinking. Both drinkers and non drinkers have reasons as to why they decide to lead their particular life style. While there are two lifestyles are normally very different, there are some parallels between the viewpoints of people who decide to experiment with alcohol and booze and those who decide otherwise. There are many reasons why it is better not to drink alcohol versus why one should drink.

People who choose not to drink are concerned about the effects that it will have on their health. Alcoholics and drinkers are at the risk of contracting serious diseases, such as liver damage, which can be fatal. Some believe that drinkers do not value life as much as people who do not drink on a regular basis because alcoholics continue to drink regardless of the fact that there is a great deal information about its harmful effects on health. Non-alcoholics are concerned about their own and the health of others when they choose not to drink. By not drinking, non alcoholics avoid having others pay the consequences of their decisions.

Non-drinkers realize that drinking affects the lives of more than just one person, emotionally as well. People who witness the negative effects of alcoholic beverages on a loved one are less likely to try experimenting themselves because they are aware of how difficult it is to watch someone suffer. They do not want to put this burden on others. Instead, they look for other ways to deal with their problems such as talking to people and expressing their thoughts verbally.

Alcoholics often use these beverages as a way to relieve stress, which also has a negative effect on one,s health. When the point of stress becomes too much to handle, many people turn to alcohol for comfort, even though they may be aware of the consequences. Some people feel uncomfortable expressing their personal problems or concerns with others. These people feel that drinking will allow them to deal with their problems on their own without having to burden others. But in reality, it just tends to cause more problems, drinkers feel free from their problems only when they are under the influence because the alcohol works as a depressant.
