To Sir, With Love
In To Sir, With Love, Mark Thackeray is a very effective teacher. Mr. Thackeray is effective because he has classroom expectation, he is different from their other teachers and he tries to help his students act like adults.
First, Mr. Thackeray had classroom expectations.
He told his class about their personal appearance. He told the men to start keeping up with their person hygiene too shower more and to wear more suitable clothing. And he told the girls to dress more like young ladies, not 'sluts'.
Mr. Thackeray talked to the class about having common courtesy for once another, by calling the ladies miss, and treating one another with respect, And not like animals.
Mr. Thackeray told the students that they were adults and were going to be treated like adults and to treat each other like adults. Quit with the child like acts, and prepare themselves for the future after they finish school.
Mr. Thackeray really truly cared about his students and wanted to see them succeed in life. The course material he was supposed to teach he threw in the garbage and he taught them how to be kind, respectful, to be mature, and how to take care of themselves. The class really ticked Mr. Thackeray off and he told them to smarten their acts up and to behave properly and to be respectful and nice to people around them no matter who it is.
Mr. Thackeray tried to help the students mature. He helped Potter by making him go apologize to the old gym teacher. Even though it was not his fault he still went and apologized anyways. He helped another student too, Mr. Thackeray also took the class to a museum, to show them something new and to learn a few new things. When Mr. Thackeray went to the funeral he saw that his whole class was there dressed in tuxedos and nice outfits on the ladies. They all smiled at him.
