True Dedication and Hope

In the movie Cast Away, Chuck Noland's dedication and hope is proven to be what saves him in the end. Thinking about Kelly, staying alive in hopes of seeing her, and when he keeps going to escape even when everything seems to be against him.

First of all, if it weren't for his mind always being on his wife, he might not have survived. For example, in the movie he even says that the only thing that was keeping him going was the thought of one day seeing Kelly again. If it weren't' for this, we might not have made it--he might have gone crazy and hung himself as he had planned at one point.

Secondly, his dedication also saved his life while on the island. As an example in the movie, he keeps track of time perfectly throughout the four years on the island, this saved his life eventually because if he hadn't have known the time of the year, he wouldn't have known when he was supposed to leave the island on his raft.

Last of all, he shows dedication when he leaves the island when going on and on out to sea, even though it's dangerous and there is a chance he could die. This saves him because he was almost to the point of breaking before he left the island, any longer and he might have gone crazy. By getting off the island he was able to halfway return to normal life.

In Conclusion, Chuck Noland, in the movie Cast Away shows what true hope and dedication can accomplish. This is what kept him going before he was stranded, while he was on the island, and what kept him going when he escaped from the island. It is what ultimately saved his life. This movie was a perfect example of how true dedication can pay off, that good things really do come to those who wait.
