Twisted Politician, Merciless Murderer
In the past, leaders have proven themselves to be many things, military geniuses and ruthless killers being just a couple, but when is the line crossed into a senseless dictatorship? Unfortunately dictators have played a major role in the revolutionizing, and often destruction, of both past and modern societies. Adolf Hitler was, perhaps, one of the most memorable political rulers and activists in the course of history. Assisting in the genocide of over eight million people and the mass brainwashing of a whole world power, he is a hard person to forget. Hitler had a negative effect on society because he spread prejudiced and discriminatory views across Europe, while taking power by force to execute his disturbing and heartless campaign of ending countless lives for no reason but his own outrageous beliefs (Munich 2).
Hitler was an tremendously power hungry man, who went to any and all lengths to be in command of not only his country, but many adjoining ones as well (Ebsco 2). "From the first days of Hitler's 'Third Reich', political opponents such as von Schleicher and Gregor Strasser (both had resigned from the Nazis) were murdered or incarcerated." From the preceding quote, it is apparent that Adolf seemingly had no ethic code in politics, which became increasingly clear in the late 1930's. He used intimidation to bully smaller nations into relinquishing territory, and often played on Europe's desire for peace to gain land and supremacy (Beck 245). If it seems as though this was inexcusable behavior for a political leader, a wave of panic struck Germany when Hitler began to carry out his strategy of "racial cleansing" (Beck 253).
An Auschwitz gas chamber had multiple showerheads that spewed cyanide gas, killing up to six thousand helpless individuals at once (Beck 252). Does it sound like a notable invention to mankind, or purely in the destruction of the human race? "Six million Jews died in the death camps and in Nazi massacres. Fewer than four million European Jews survived the horror of the Holocaust." This quote illustrates the senseless madness that took place due to Hitler's choices and actions, which undoubtedly would have not happened otherwise. No person who was responsible for events as detrimental to civilization as these events were could ever have a positive influence on anybody, nor should they ever be granted any form of redemption. Although he committed several other offenses against the social order, this was, without question, the most heinous.
Out of the ten people surveyed about Hitler, all ten had heard of him. More interesting was the fact that everyone related Adolf Hitler to the swastika, and nearly all could draw it
